about

Scratching the surface of folk, pop, and jazz for a distinct sound. In tune to the melancholy feeling of a grey, rainy day, these simple melodies recall distant memories. Inspired by shades of Norah Jones, Sara Bareilles, and Lianne La Havas.

K. M. Johnson will release her first EP "Leaving The City" in September of 2013. Drawing inspiration for the tracks from changing minds and moving on, Johnson uses her songwriting as a means to remember common life situations in an uncommon way.
Engineered by Ron Flack with a low-key approach that makes for an easy listening experience, Johnson's soft fingerpicking style acts as a backdrop for smooth and honest vocal melodies. The three tracks are unassuming, using bittersweet lyrics and melodies to contemplate what it means to move forward, and the effects of endlessly passing time. Johnson says of her EP, "The process of writing and recording these tracks was like a release of memories and emotions for me, and I hope for listeners to get that same feeling."
